Henley Audio brings HiFi Rose RA280 to UK

Henley Audio has announced the UK availability of HiFi Rose’s new RA280 integrated amplifier, which takes its lead from the Korean brand’s flagship RA180 amplifier (HFC 491), first released in 2022.

Employing HiFi Rose’s Class AD design, the company explains: “Class D amplification provides higher efficiency and higher output, as well as improved noise and distortion measurements, compared with more traditional Class AB designs. However, many Class D designs in the past have suffered in sound quality due to limitations in their circuitry. HiFi Rose’s state-of-the-art Class AD (“Advanced D”) amplifier resolves these problems with the use of innovative new materials. The RA280’s Class AD amplifier boasts Gallium Nitride FETs as opposed to more common Silicon FET technology. The result of this design is a high-speed, perfectly accurate amplification stage with almost no dead time, allowing it to perform far more naturally, like a pure analogue amplifier.”

The RA280 boasts a claimed separate 250W (4 and 8ohm) amplifier modules per-channel, delivering a claimed 500W of total system power. The power stage also makes use of a HiFi Rose-designed two-stage analogue filter.

The RA280’s front panel offers access to bass and treble tone controls, allowing users to adjust the flat frequency response at 100Hz and 10kHz, respectively, with ±15dB gain. There’s also a built-in moving-magnet phono stage for connecting a turntable.

Additional connections include one balanced and three unbalanced inputs. There is support for a subwoofer output, trigger connections and a grounding post alongside the speaker output terminals. There’s additionally a new power supply design – first developed for the RA180 amplifier. This employs Silicon Carbide FET technology, with its high voltage support and heat resistance, to provide a high output in an efficient manner with low heat generation.

The HiFi Rose RA280 measures 430 x 103 x 355mm (WxHxD), weighs 9.5kg and comes in a choice of black or silver finishes.

Available to buy now for £3,000 in the UK via Henley Audio, you can find out more about the HiFi Rose RA280 here.
