Astell&Kern introduces AK UW100

Astell&Kern is taking its first step into the true-wireless earbud world with its new AK UW100. Equipped with a dedicated 32-bit DAC, it supports Bluetooth 5.2 and aptX Adaptive, as well as having Knowles Balanced Armature drivers.

With its ergonomic and lightweight earbud design, the AK UW100 offers passive noise isolation (PNI) to minimise any unwanted ambient noise in the mid and high range. However, should the user wish to hear outside sounds, a tap of the left earbud will activate ambient mode, with the ability to switch between four ambient levels using the touch controls or via the app.

The AK UW100 sports responsive touch controls for commands such as play, pause, skip track, volume adjustment, activating Ambient mode, answering calls and enabling voice assistant from a compatible device. A proprietary iOS and Android app also allows users to customise touch controls, ambient levels and various EQ settings.

The earbuds claim up to six hours of battery life from a single charge and a further 18 hours top up via the charging case, which also features fast charging – where a 10-minute blast will provide an hour of playback.

Alongside the charging case, the AK UW100 comes supplied with a choice of five different-sized silicone ear tips (XS, S, M, L, XL) and a USB-C charging cable.

Available to buy now for £250, you can find out more about Astell&Kern's AK UW100 here.
