30 years after it launched its first turntable – the Xerxes – Roksan has announced its latest vinyl spinner, the Oxygene 30. Supplied with a 9in Pro-Ject 9CC Evolution tonearm and Roksan’s XPS-7 power supply/speed controller, the Oxygene 30 comes in a gloss white finish and you’ll need to select your own choice of cartridge to partner it. The Oxygene 30 has a complex, multi-layered four-piece plinth design boasting a new high-mass mounting block for housing the motor. This has been designed to ensure unwanted resonances from the motor are transferred into the block and attenuated significantly before reaching the top plinth.

Meet the latest update to Roksan’s famed Radius turntable, the Radius 7. Do you know what Roon is? Do you think you need to know? Should you even care? When hi-fi manufacturers launch a new amplifier or loudspeaker, the question immediately turns to its styling, specification and indeed performance. Rarely – if ever – does one ever end up asking: “Why do I need it?”, or “How will owning such a thing make my life better?” The problem for Roon founder Enno Vandermeer is that his product needs a whole lot of explanation before people can take a view about whether they actually want it. “We created an experience that people were missing. The only trouble is, they didn’t know it!”, he says.
