August 2025 issue now on sale!
The way the world’s moving right now you’d be forgiven for thinking that, as mere individuals, what we do doesn’t matter and that there’s no way we can make any kind of difference, big or small. But our Company Confidential feature begs to differ.
On the face of it, and from its title alone, CC might seem to be about corporate strategy and adept business manoeuvres but since its launch what has emerged is a series of stories about people like you and me who instead of moaning about a problem dreamed up something and went ahead and did it.
CC is full of tiny triumphs that grew exponentially into livelihoods. We’ve learned that Mark Baker, a shipbuilder by trade, founded Origin Live on a hunch about vibrations, Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen, who started out matching sound to film, wound up forming Ortofon, John Bowers and Roy Wilkins met working for MI6 and turned their passion for radio into a company and in this issue we meet Saul Marantz whose frustration with poor sound led to him creating a new design which, in turn, led to the world-renowned company which still bears his name.
Beyond providing insight into the origins of many a famous brand, I hope CC also serves as inspiration to set putting your long-cherished plans into motion.
Enjoy the issue!
