LUMIN’s P1 player/preamp comes to UK
Marketed as a high-quality streamer, a DAC, preamplifier or all three, the P1 is dual-mono from input to output, involves dual Femto re-clocking oscillators, dual ES9028PRO Sabre DACs, 32-bit precision volume control and a fully balanced analogue output stage, fed by a new dual-toroidal linear power supply.
Nine digital/analogue inputs provide access to the P1’s audiophile topology. The XMOS USB input supports native DSD512 and PCM 384, while coaxial, optical (RCA) and AES inputs support up to 24-bit/192kHz files. Three HDMI 2.0 inputs support 2.0 PCM audio decoding and the passthrough of HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS via an ARC-compatible HDMI output. Balanced XLR and coaxial RCA in/outputs handle pure analogue signals, PCM and DSD up-sampling is available for any digital input, plus a dual-network interface manages switching between the P1’s Ethernet and SFP fibre ports, which the company claims provides complete isolation from network noise. Control over playback and settings, input selection, per-input volume memory and custom input labels is available from the LUMIN app or via a new Roon-ready handheld remote control, precision-made in Austria from acrylic and zinc. The LUMIN P1 comes in natural or black anodised aluminium.
