September issue now on sale

Welcome to the September issue
A few issues ago we expanded our news pages in response to all the great products being released after the frustration of lockdown. I don’t think there’s ever been a time in HFC’s history where we’ve been privileged to feature so much exciting new kit and thankfully there’s no sign of that number abating. In fact, the next step on the road to business-as-usual is just around the corner in the shape of the UK Hi-Fi Show Live at Ascot Racecourse on 10 & 11 September where many of the speakers, decks, DACs and amps etc. we’ve covered over the last few months will finally be on show for all to enjoy.

In this heady rush to deliver and discover fresh stuff, there are still many quality products that have been on the market for a while worthy of celebrating. So, with this in mind, we’ve broken with tradition in our Group Test this month and pitched three new amplifiers against a trio of modern classics to see whether everyone is playing catch up or if there really is genuine advancement and innovation at play. Who wins out?

Elsewhere you’ll find an appreciation of PJ Harvey, a five-star review of Kendrick Lamar’s new album and a rant about the multiple pitfalls of using a secondary ticketing agency.

Don’t say you haven’t been warned!
