Dynaudio shows off new Contour LE loudspeakers
Dynaudio has announced details of its new Contour LE series, consisting of the S 1.4 LE bookshelf loudspeaker
(pictured above) and the S 3.4LE floorstander. The rigid cabinet design features what Dynaudio describes as a “unique baffle” made up of three layers – including a layer of damping material and a thick metal plate. This construction, claims the company, effectively reduces cabinet resonance and will allow “flawless” sound performance up to the highest volume levels.
Aside from the aesthetic overhaul, the Contour LE series has also received an acoustic upgrade. Power handling is quoted as 160W and 270W (into 4ohm), while frequency response is claimed to be 41Hz-25kHz and 35Hz-25kHz respectively.
The Dynaudio soft-dome tweeter promises detailed frequencies with its Precision Coating, while the internal wiring uses high-quality OFC copper cable for ‘minimal resistance’. The crossover has, says the manufacturer, been refined further by using special ceramic resistors and high-quality capacitors to provide, what it refers to, as “an exceptionally pure and refined musical output”.
The Contour woofers include proprietary Dynaudio technologies such as Magnesium Silicate Polymer cones, light aluminium wire voice coils on Kapton formers and rigid, low-resonance die-cast aluminium baskets. The culmination of these technologies has, says Dynaudio, allowed the company “to create a natural, balanced yet dynamic performance that is unique to the Contour LE series”.
Both speakers are available in four finishes including burbinga piano lacquer, oiled walnut, mocca piano lacquer and black piano lacquer. At the heart of the handcrafted cabinets sit die-cast aluminium woofer baskets finished in matt black, while the metal front is finished in satin black. The high-gloss black piano lacquer version of the Contour features a metal front made from stainless steel. Prices are expected to be £2,950 for the bookshelf S 1.4LE and £5,250 for the floorstanding S 3.4LE. You can find out more here.
