FiiO unveils DM13 Portable CD Player and K11 R2R Desktop DAC/amplifier
Featuring both 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced headphone outputs, the DM13 portable CD player has been designed for use with a wide-range of headphones including FiiO’s own FT5 Planar Magnetic offering – the FT3 – alongside its new FA19 in-ear monitors.
The addition of aptX HD Bluetooth means the DM13 can connect to wireless headphones or speakers and also features a dedicated analogue line-out, so it can be used with other equipment such as an existing hi-fi, active speakers or a radio/portable speaker with an auxiliary input.
With a built-in battery that delivers up to a claimed eight hours of playback from a single charge and a dedicated desktop mode – which bypasses the battery and uses mains power – the DM13 is meant for use both out and about or in the home.
It comes in a silver finish with additional colours, including red, blue, titanium and black, coming later in the year. The price is set at £180.
Meanwhile, FiiO says its K11 R2R Desktop DAC/amplifier comes with multiple inputs – including USB-Type C, optical and coaxial – as well as 6.35mm/4.4mm headphone outputs and RCA stereo line-out. It also features a 1.1-in VA display, which provides information about the audio file currently being listened to. It’s the first FiiO DAC/Amplifier to feature a four-channel fully differential 24-bit R2R (Resistor-to-Resistor) DAC with full support for 32-bit/384kHz and native DSD256 hi-res files, with a claimed power output of up to 1,300mW.
The K11 R2R’s multi-function volume dial controls the unit and using it customers can power the device on and off; access the menu; adjust volume; and more. Users can also switch between Line Out, Pre-out, and Power Out modes by double-pressing the button.
It measures 147 x 133 x 32.3mm, weighs 420g and comes in either Obsidian Black or Midnight Silver with a red version to follow later this year. All are priced at £150.
