System Audio unveils Signature series
System Audio describes the range as: “built for high efficiency and power handling from slender room-friendly designs and intended for easy system configuration and room integration”.
The new Signature speakers include the floorstanding three-way Signature 40 (£2,000 per pair), wall or shelf-mounting two-way Signature 10 (£700 each), super-slender two-way Signature 6 on-wall (£800 per pair), two-way Signature 5 standmount (£1,000 per pair) and the Signature 8 (£1,100) – a compact 600W dual 205mm driver subwoofer with an opposing ‘balanced-array’ design.
For simple installation, the Signatures 10 and 6 include fixed wall-mount brackets (the 10 with vertical or horizontal mounting options), which integrate with System Audio W.5 brackets for angled mounting on your wall of choice.
The Danish company also explains that the drive units are developed in-house: “using proprietary mechanical and material choices to achieve a perfectly balanced and consistent sound from model to model.”
For the Signature range, SA has designed a new 25mm soft dome tweeter, which uses a low-mass membrane of woven fibres. Its neodymium magnet has an internal chamber that allows the tweeter to be used at a lower crossover frequency, while its patented DXT acoustic waveguide has been designed to deliver superior dispersion in-room. In addition, two new 140mm mid/bass drivers have been custom-made for Signature, optimised for smaller/larger enclosure size. Both employ a proprietary low-mass (1g), low-distortion glass fibre diaphragm in conjunction with long-stroke motor systems – which the company claims: “allows the membrane to move 40 percent more air than a traditional speaker of the same size, resulting in deeper, more defined bass from smaller space-friendly cabinets”.
The range is available in a choice of White or Black Satin finishes. We’ll be getting to grips with the Signature 5 in next month’s issue, on sale 28 November.
