Vertere bundles Magneto with DG-1 turntable

Vertere has announced that its DG-1 Dynamic Groove record player will be shipped with its new Magneto cartridge fitted and aligned. Closely related to the Audio-Technica VM520EB cartridge originally fitted to the DG-1, the Magneto is also compatible with the AT VM5x range – allowing owners to upgrade to an improved stylus profile when the time comes to renew.

The Magneto comes with an integrated stylus guard, stainless steel fixing bolts, washer and hex thumb nuts and its design replicates the structure of the cutter head. A ‘V’ form two-magnet design mimics the left and right channel sides of the groove, while Vertere claims the permalloy centre shield plate provides a higher frequency response with electrical crosstalk typically better than 40dB.

Frequency response is quoted as being 20-23,000Hz, the channel separation 27dB (1kHz) with an output channel balance of 1.5dB (1kHz) and output voltage of 4.5mV (1kHz, 5cm/sec). The elliptical bonded 0.3 x 0.7mm stylus has a vertical tracking angle of 23°, vertical tracking force range of 1.8–2.2g (2g standard), a 2,700ohm (1kHz) coil impedance, static compliance of 35 x 10-6cm/dyne and a dynamic compliance of 8 x 10-6cm/dyne (100Hz) ext block.

Vertere claims the Magneto is tolerant of records in less than perfect condition so is particularly suited to those returning to vinyl after many years absence as well as audiophiles seeking a quiet, dynamic, accurate, and easy to optimise stylus.
