Bang & Olufsen unveils Beosound Level speaker

Bang & Olufsen has launched Beosound Level, a portable wireless home speaker which the company describes as: “the ultimate speaker for people who want the flexibility and convenience of a portable speaker, but don’t want to sacrifice on sound quality and multi-room connectivity”.

Designed to work with Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, the Beosound Level was crafted at Factory 5 in Struer, Denmark and, the company claims: “showcases Bang & Olufsen’s unrivalled expertise in aluminium manufacturing with its pearl-blasted aluminium frame”. The speaker’s covers are available in a natural oak veneer, treated to highlight the natural grains and texture of the wood and a knitted dark grey Kvadrat textile, and it can be used outdoors thanks to its IP54 dust and splash water resistant rating. When approached, the Beosound Level lights up through integrated proximity sensors, which adjust the brightness to suit day or night. The light slowly dims when it’s not in use.

The speaker offers an easy charge solution via an aluminium magnetic plug, which clicks onto the back and Bang & Olufsen has also designed an optional wall bracket that allows you to charge the speaker while using it to listen to music.

Power output is quoted at 105W with a five-driver speaker setup and two 10mm bass drivers, one 50mm full-range driver, two 20mm tweeters and low distortion amplifiers delivering 79dB bass capability and 96dB in midrange loudness. At typical listening volumes, the Beosound promises 16 hours of playtime, a three-hour charge time to reach 100 percent capacity and comes with Bang & Olufsen’s new replaceable streaming module, which will power all the company’s future home speakers. The module has been frontloaded with enough processing power and connectivity to receive new performance updates and features, and the module can be accessed for exchange and reconnection to the main board as a service solution.

The Beosound Level measures 348 x 230 x 56mm (WxHxD) and weighs in at 3.3kg. The wall bracket is sold separately for £89.

The Q7 Beosound Level is available to buy now for £1,100 in standard finish or £1,300 in the Gold Tone and you can find out more about it here.
