Technics unveils SA-C600 Compact Network CD Receiver and EAH-A800 noise-cancelling wireless cans

Technics has launched its new SA-C600 Compact Network CD Receiver as part of its Premium C600 Series, joining the SB-C600 Compact Speaker System launched back in September.

“The SA-C600 is a significant add-on to the Technics portfolio, filling the gap between all-in-one compact speaker systems such as the C70MK2 and true separate component systems such as the C700 and G700 systems,” according to the company. “This enables a performance level not possible with all-in-one solutions, yet without the need to find space for lots of components within the home”.

The new SA-C600 makes use of full-digital amplification technology based on the company’s JENO Engine and boasts a top-loading CD design, quoted power output of 2x 60W into 4ohm and low noise power supply left and right channel individual Space Tune room compensation with additional ‘In-shelf’ option. Connectivity includes a moving-magnet phono input for turntable connection, subwoofer out, Chromecast built-in for multi-room capability and access to streaming services, with Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer and Amazon Music support. Internet Radio/DAB/FM, AirPlay 2 and MQA decoding also come as standard. The SA-C600 comes in silver or black.

Also just released is Technics’ £300 EAH-A800 noise-cancelling wireless over-ear headphone boasting a newly developed 40mm dynamic driver with a free edge diaphragm in the dome. The company claims its Acoustic Control Chamber: “accurately controls air flow to enhance the performance of the driver for precise bass and rich spatial expression. Further, use of thin-film polymer multi-layer capacitors – a technology used in Technics’ high-grade audio amplifiers –facilitates a stable current through the audio circuitry, which limits distortion and generates high-quality sound.” The EAH-A800 employs Bluetooth with LDAC processing and has eight mics on the left and right earcups. Four operate in tandem to pick up the voice, while the other four activate noise cancelling simultaneously from both sides to reduce surrounding interference. There’s a choice of two modes: Natural Ambient, which allows the user to pay attention to surrounding noise while listening to music or making calls and Attention, in which users should still be able to hear airport and train announcements.

Multipoint pairing allows connection to two Bluetooth devices at the same time and the battery provides approximately 50 hours of music listening time.

The 3D earpads feature a curved design to apply uniform pressure to the entire ear and use a memory foam material to distribute pressure and ensure a secure fit. The inner diameter of the earpad has been enlarged to wrap around the ear and the headphones themselves can be stored in the bundled compact carry case.
